We left Sonoma this morning and had a chance to stop just north of the Golden Gate Bridge for some fantastic views of the city and the bay.

We had decided to leave a San Francisco tour for another time and continue south on the Pacific Coast Highway.

Here is a view of the beach area just outside of SF.

Just a little bit south of there we noticed some hang gliders and we stopped at Fort Funston Recreation Area from where they take off and land. There were about a dozen gliders sailing in ideal conditions today.

We stopped several times for some terrific views of the shoreline.

Chris did find that there are some special precautions you have to keep in mind when using the facilities here ......

When we got to Santa Cruz, we went for a walk on the pier.

Here is a close up of a California Gull.

At the end of the pier, we could hear quite a raucous from the sea lions who beach themselves on the structures under the pier.

We left in time to get to our B&B by sunset. Unfortunately our view was looking north into Monterey Bay so we had to settle for wine and hors d'oeuvres. We walked down the street for some great Thai food for supper and then returned to our room.
