Last night Chris had a great time in our little B&B room watching Dancing With the Stars on the Internet. We had just realized that in the US, you can watch TV on your computer without the CRTC getting in the way!

This morning we tried to find the monarch butterflies at the Ocean Grove Sanctuary but it looks like they must have figured they were in Alaska and have moved on. here is the map of our trip today.

We did the "17 Mile Drive" between Monterey and Carmel which follows the coastline and passes some premier golf courses such as Spyglass Hill and Pebble Beach.

Bird Rock was not covered with birds but rather sea lions!

We stopped at the Pebble Beach Clubhouse to check it out (and use the washroom).

From there we headed south to the Big Sur area on Hwy 1. We stopped at Andrew Molera State Park to do a short hike to an overlook on the shoreline. Some great surf running.

We continued south on one of the best drives in North America with the iconic coastline beside us for 90 miles.

By chance, we stopped at a scenic overlook near Hurst Castle to get some sunset shots. We happened upon a huge colony of Elephant Seals. These guys are huge!

The sunset was fantastic.

We continued on to Paso Robles which seems to be a great little town although it was dark when we arrived. Jim & Sharon arrived to spend a couple of days with us exploring the local wineries.

  1. That drive is definitely on my to-do list. It looks breathtaking. You and your camera have an incredible bond.
