Sunday November 7, 2010

Today we left the Tombstone Territories RV Park to head to Phoenix (Glendale actually) to spend a few days at Brian & Linda's home. Here they are all packed up and ready to haul the 5th wheel trailer home. Brian wanted to be back in time for the Cardinal's game so the fuel mileage suffered (8.6 mpg).

We took a more leisurely route and drove through Sonoita on our way to Tuscon.

The ranch lands were beautiful.

When we got to Tuscon, we decided to take the trip up Mt Lemmon on the Sky Island Scenic Byway.

This was a 50 mile round trip going from about 3000 ft elevation to 8000 ft elevation and back. We were amazed by the number of bicyclists we saw doing the 25 mile climb to the top! We also saw our first saguaro cactus of the trip!

Here are a couple of good views from part way up the road to the summit.

When we got to the top, we stopped at the Cookie Cabin Cafe for some pizza for lunch.

We arrived in Glendale at around 5:00 pm in time to watch some football and enjoy some refreshments before supper. It was a sad day in Phoenix as the Cardinals imploded.
