Thursday November 4, 2010

We started off with a brief tour of historic old town Willcox AZ which was centred around the railway station and some saloons and stores. The real hi light for all of you Cowboy & Western fans is the Rex Allen museum, a tribute to the hometown hero.

From here we were on to Cochise Stronghold National Park where we hiked for a few miles but did not get all the way to the deep canyons used by Cochise to hide from the white men.

We took a few back roads (ungraded gravel) to explore the ghost towns of Pearce and Gleeson.

The open range in this area is beautiful with waist deep grasses and a backdrop of mountain ranges.

We arrived at the RV park near Tombstone AZ in the late afternoon in time for some wine and to enjoy the sunset over the mountains with Brian & Linda.
