We were off to Death Valley via Pahrump NV.

The highway was pretty well straight through the desert with a couple of interesting sections through the mountains.

On the outskirts of Pahrump, we noticed a fairly extensive autosports development called Spring Mountain Motorsport Ranch. This was a private autosport park complete with condos and garages for members ($40k membership initiation) to have fun with their high performance cars. There were only four cars on the track (3.5 miles) playing when we were there but they ranged from a specialized racing car to a street legal Mustang.

We entered California on a back road which only featured a broken down fence to mark the boundary.

Shortly after entering the Death Valley National Park, we drove up to Dante's View (elev. 5300 ft.) for a look at Death Valley (elev. -282 ft).

After descending into the valley, we took the off-road tour through the 20 Mule Team Trail through the badlands.

We checked into our room at the Furnace Creek Ranch around sunset (4:15 pm) in time to get a quick view of the golf course that promises your "lowest round" at 214 ft. below sea level.
