This park is a "sky island", an isolated mountain range rising above the surrounding grassland sea. The big feature of the park are its spectacular rock pinnacles which you see in the photos below.

The hike we selected was a series of trails that took us into the heart of the rocks. It was about 7 1/2 miles in length but involved a fair bit of climbing and descending (about 1700 ft up). The temperature was about perfect, starting at 62 F and warming to 70 F. It was windy but most of the time we were protected in the canyons.

After the hike, we visited a local winery. They had some reasonably good wines which we procured for our return to our hotel room and our visit with Brian and Linda in the Tombstone RV Park tomorrow.

Another cool thing we saw in Willcox was a circa 1950 Dairy Queen, just like the one we remembered as kids in Waterloo Ontario.

PS:
The blog will not be updated until next week. It appears there is no Internet connectivity in the Tombstone RV Park....
