Tuesday November 23, 2010

We woke up in Pacific Grove CA with the rain coming down and a forecast for rain, windy and cool until early afternoon when the rain would end. Here is a photo of our B&B which is across the road from the shore where there were harbour seals playing in the surf.

We decided on an indoor agenda for the first part of the day and visited the Monterey Aquarium. It stopped raining long enough for us to walk down the shoreline trail for opening time of 10:00 am. This was just in time to see the penguins being fed. They are cute little fellows.

This is supposedly the best aquarium in the USA with fantastic displays of all kinds of sea life. We liked the Jellyfish and the Seahorses.

The rain stopped around 1:30 so we decided to take a trip to Carmel-by-the-Sea and do a little window shopping. First we went to Clint Eastwood's restaurant for lunch.

The town is very quaint. Sort of like NOTL but 5x as big. Very British looking buildings.

The sun was starting to set so we retreated back to Ocean Grove to get a view of the waves crashing into the rocks at sunset.

We are off to Paso Robles wine region tomorrow. Unfortunately, last winter's Florida weather has caught up with us and they are expecting record lows in the 20'sF tonight. Perhaps I can show them how to make Icewine?
