Sunday November 21, 2010

We started off today with the four of us meeting John & Janet for breakfast at the Creekside Cafe. They served a great Mexican style breakfast that lasted us for the rest of the day.

The day turned out sunny contrary to the forecast for rain. The six of us went to the Sonoma Valley Regional Park for a hike to the town of Glen Allen.

As you can see from the sign, there is no shortage of wineries to visit.

After the hike it was time for some wine tasting. Our first stop was Kunde winery, one of the few family owned wineries in the valley. The unique feature of this facility was that the cellars are in man made caves carved out of the hillside.

The tour guide did a great job on a group picture ....

We then visited B.R Cohn Winery which is owned by the manager of the Doobie Brothers, lots of cool stuff there including gold records.

After Cohn, we were off to Robledo, the only Mexican winery in the area. It happened to be one of the wineries participating in the Carneros wine festival and offered food and wine samples.

In keeping with the Mexican theme, we went to Mayas in the square for margaritas and supper. We had a great time seeing John & Janet again and bid them farewell. We retired back to Jim & Sharon's to let the Mexican food digest and prepare for our departure south tomorrow.
