Thursday November 11, 2010

We left Glendale at around 10:00 am and headed north to Sedona for a look at Red Rock country.

We stopped at the Forest Service Information Centre and picked a trail to hike for a couple of hours. There were about a 100 to choose from and we selected the Little Horse Trail which takes you to Chicken Point (about 5 km and not too big a climb). Temperatures were perfect for hiking (low 60's F). Here are a few photos and video.

After the hike, we went into Sedona and browsed some galleries and shops for an hour or so.

We left at around 3:00 pm so we would have a bit of time in Jerome before dark. We got there a bit before 4:00 pm and it was really starting to cool off as the sun dropped behind the mountain. Jerome is an old, almost abandoned mining town that has been transformed into a town of eclectic galleries, restaurants and shops. The streets are switchbacks embedded in the side of a mountain.

There are a few odd characters living here.

We carried on to our end destination of Prescott AZ and checked into a brand new Comfort Suites. Tomorrow morning's temperature is supposed to be 30 F. Brrrrr .... last winter's Florida weather has followed us to the southwest.
